Visions

Art is a language – a way to view the world.

The kind of art that is powerful, will reflect life through a prism, show us other dimensions and offer a glimpse of insight.
It can also touch us in more subtle ways – perhaps by telling a bit of a ruthless – brash or poetic story we then can add on to, take with us throughout life – or throw away.

The vision

The museum has a vision that through its activities it supports culture, memories and identification and at the same time enhance the meaning of both sensitivity and recognition.

About contemporary art

(text from the museums Black Box, expressing the basic idea of the museum, 1989)

…It is no longer possible to look at art as a clearly defined discipline or genre. Visual artists are now working with body language and sound. Also, synthesis are now quite common. Composers are working visually, and in dance, literature and theater – overstepping boundaries.

The borders fluctuate and new ways of expression – often inspired by scientific achievements and the rapid development in the audio-visual media and electronic data processing.

It is worth our while to follow these artistic experiments closely, not only because they create a link to the continuously change in our reality – but also because they constantly sense the vibrations in the so-called “cold” technique.
It is also important to question how it can be used. The syntheses, the crossing of the boundaries and the fusion all contribute to create a new aesthetics, a new language, and a new kind of communication. It is a process worth keeping an eye on.
