Guided Tour
Enjoy a unique cultural experience in Roskilde’s beautiful Sankt Hans area with a modern dance performance by the award-winning local theater company Aaben Dans, a sensual garden gastronomic dinner at Sct. Hans Have, and an exclusive guided tour of the museum’s current art exhibition Kaååråålines Verses.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde, Aaben Dans, and Sct. Hans Have are teaming up to present a full cultural evening with dinner, dance performance, and art. Get a unique insight into the three cultural institutions’ work with the potential of the Sankt Hans area for culture and art, alongside Roskilde Municipality’s ongoing work to develop the area, which will eventually become Roskilde’s new recreational district.
Enjoy a very special tour of the beautiful Kurhus at Sankt Hans, where the Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde presents the exhibition Kaååråålines Verses. Here, the life’s work of Danish artist Karoline Ebbesen (1852-1936) is displayed side by side with works by Danish and international contemporary artists, including Lise Haller Baggesen, Gudrun Hasle, Georgina Maxim, and Matilde Duus, who have been inspired by and found kinship in Ebbesen’s world of text and images.
Afterwards, there will be a delicious dinner in Sct. Hans Have, Roskilde’s recreational garden with roots firmly planted in the soil and history of the area. The dinner is a tribute to good food craftsmanship with carefully selected ingredients from local, organic producers, topped with flowers and herbs from the garden. At dinner, you will be offered a glass of wine from the garden’s partner Vinloungen, which offers organic wines from small, ambitious winegrowers, where winemaking, responsibility for nature, and a love of wine culture go hand in hand.
The evening ends with the dance performance “Vi fortsætter…” (We Continue…) by Roskilde’s local theater Aaben Dans, which takes place in Centralmagasinet at Sankt Hans, staged as a flooded landscape. The performance explores humanity’s absurd and fascinating ability to continue while everything is falling apart. Here, four dancers experience the internal and external struggles that characterize the times and the human urge for both tenderness and destruction, but above all: to continue. The special event takes place on Friday, September 19 and 26.
