Workshop
A Christmas workshop for the entire family.
Welcome to the Christmas workshop of the one-winged angels. The one-winged angels are very special; they only have one wing and perhaps fly a little slower. This Christmas workshop is for all the different, special, and unique Christmas creatures. Take a seat at the large table and cut, glue, sew, or embroider your very own Christmas creature that celebrates standing out from the crowd and daring to be yourself. You can either hang your creature in the workshop alongside the many other one-winged angels or take it home to decorate your Christmas tree.
The artist Karoline Ebbesen often worked with the motif of one-winged angels, which can be found in several places in the exhibition. She lived a hundred years ago as a patient at the Sct. Hans psychiatric hospital, where one can imagine she knew the feeling of standing out. While living at the hospital, she became very skilled at creating art, and the one-winged angels were a motif she kept returning to.
Practical information:
Participation is free and open to all.
We serve Christmas cookies, homemade herbal tea and hot cocoa (while supplies last).
Kaååråålines Verses
The exhibition Kaååråålines Vers (Kaååråålines Verses) is the Roskilde Museum of Contemporary Art’s autumn exhibition, displayed in Kurhuset, located in the former Sankt Hans Hospital, where the artist Karoline Ebbesen lived from the mid-1880s until her death in 1936. During her long hospitalization, Ebbesen produced works in textiles, embroidery, collage, drawing, and text, and developed her own font and alphabet. The exhibition presents Ebbesen’s works alongside new large-scale installations by Danish and international artists, all with direct references to Ebbesen.
