When darkness falls, sound takes on a different depth and quality. This evening, we invite you into The Sound of after hours, offering a chance to explore the exhibition at a completely different pace and in an entirely different atmosphere.

Join an introductory tour, close your eyes and listen in the Listening Room, or follow the lanterns through the darkness to Sct. Ibs Church Ruin. Here, you can experience Hanne Lippard’s Vox Humana (2026) and discover more about the work in a special tour led by our art guides.

Throughout the evening, you are also welcome to explore the exhibition at your own pace – and perhaps discover sounds, artworks and details you didn’t notice in the daylight.

Programme:

• 5:15, 6:15, 7:15 and 8:15 pm: 30-minute introductory tour with a museum host
• 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 pm: 20-minute guided listening session in the Listening Room with Bureau for Listening
• 7:45 pm: Lantern walk to Sct. Ibs Church Ruin and special tour of Hanne Lippard’s Vox Humana (2026)
• Throughout the evening: Sound Laboratory – a mobile creative sound workshop for the whole family, available to borrow free of charge at the entrance and explore independently in the exhibition
• Throughout the evening: Enjoy and taste Emeka Ogboh’s artistic specialty beers, created in collaboration with To Øl

Accessibility: Gasværket is a historic building with many stairs. One installation can be accessed from street level via a roller-ramp. Unfortunately, the rest of the exhibition is not recommended for visitors with limited mobility. For questions, please contact Astrid at +45 81 95 58 53.

About the exhibition

The Sound of focuses on the poetic, political and social potentials of sound in contemporary art, presenting works by an array of international and Danish artists including Hajra Waheed, Hanne Lippard, Clara Mosconi, Julian Abraham ‘Togar’, Emeka Ogboh, Cally Spooner, Francesco Fonassis, Arendse Krabbe and Annika Kahrs.

Through voices, rhythms, language and vibrations, the exhibition opens experiences that move between the intimate and the collective, between body and space, between listening and action. The exhibition presents several newly produced works together with a programme of performances, talks and activities. Explore the programme here.
