Installation
The work Gritar, No Caer is the outcome of an expanding and research-based sound project called The Oracular Eavesdropper that started early 2025. It questions the politics of listening — intimate, collective, sensory or violent — and proposes new forms of intervention within public space. Through vocal performances, reactivated ancient texts and site-specific compositions, Gritar, No Caer combines ritual, research and recordings. The recorded material gathered in the Zone of Silence in Mexico forms the core of the installations at both the Sound Wells in Copenhagen – presented as part of the larger exhibition project The Sound of – and as a permanent sound installation on the roof of Museion – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano, Italy. For each iteration the work explores its own poetic and political autonomy, in which listening becomes an act of resistance and openness towards the unknown.
For the Sound Wells Fonassi has created a new piece Gritar, No Caer which will be premiering on Wednesday June 17 at 17:00.
Francesco Fonassi (1986) works at the intersection of acousmatic composition, field sound research, and transmedia art — exploring the political and sensory spaces of sound across realities and geographies. His practice revolves around the phenomenology of perception: what happens to the human being when exposed to sound as aggression, isolation, or interruption? Through installations, radio transmissions, sensory spaces, and live performances, he does not merely reorganize physical space — he interrogates it.
The project The Oracular Eavesdropper by Francesco Fonassi is supported by the Italian Council program (2024) promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
