During the autumn break, we invite children and families on a sound adventure through the exhibition – and the city. Crawl through a giant ear, train your listening ears, create sound artworks together, and explore strange, magical and funky ways of listening. Grab a map showing the exhibition’s three locations in Roskilde and set off on a creative adventure with your ears leading the way.

Programme:
The activities can be experienced individually or combined in any order.

• Family tours at the Gasværket: Join a museum educator for a family-friendly tour of the exhibition. The tour is specially designed for families and includes creative activities along the way. Every day at 1 pm. No registration required.
• The Sound Laboratory at Vaskeriet: Try out the artists’ methods and create your own sound-based artworks in the large autumn break workshop: The Sound Laboratory.
• Magical Listening Ritual at St. Ibs Church Ruin: Inspired by Hanne Lippard’s installation and sound work, we will create our own listening ritual, tuning in and listening for hidden stories from the past, present and future. The ritual can be experienced at any time during opening hours, just drop in.

Locations: Gasværket,St. Ibs Church Ruin and Vaskeriet
Food and drinks: We offer juice, coffee and tea at Gasværket. You are welcome to enjoy your own packed lunch outdoors at the tables by the Gasværket and Vaskeriet.

About the exhibition

The Sound of focuses on the poetic, political and social potentials of sound in contemporary art, presenting works by an array of international and Danish artists including Hajra Waheed, Hanne Lippard, Clara Mosconi, Julian Abraham ‘Togar’, Emeka Ogboh, Cally Spooner, Francesco Fonassis, Arendse Krabbe and Annika Kahrs.

Through voices, rhythms, language and vibrations, the exhibition opens experiences that move between the intimate and the collective, between body and space, between listening and action. The exhibition presents several newly produced works together with a programme of performances, talks and activities. Explore the programme here.
